Community Award
The Town Council wish to receive from residents nominations for a Community Award. The award is to promote pride and give recognition to those who have made a significant contribution within the community as something to be valued. The presentation of the award will provide an opportunity to increase awareness of those people – who voluntarily and selflessly work to improve and enhance the lives of people in the Caerwys Town Council area – and to allow that work to be celebrated. (Council area: Afonwen, Babell (part), Caerwys and Pen Y Cefn.
The nominees can be an adult (over 18), a young person (under 18) or a Community Committee / Group, who must either reside, provide a contribution to the area, or be registered within the Caerwys Town Council boundary.

Town Council Finances
The Town Council accounts and financial policies of the Council, are audited each year by an Internal auditor. The accounts are also subject to a further audit by the Wales Audit Office. The Electors Rights to inspect the accounts and audit report are advertised each year within the community, in accordance with the rules and regulations.

Regulation 15(5) of the Accounts and Audit (Wales) Regulations 2014 (as amended) requires that by 30 September 2023, Caerwys Town Council publish its accounting statements for the year ended 31 March 2023 together with any certificate, opinion, or report issued, given or made by the Auditor General.
The accounting statements in the form of an annual return have been published on the Council’s website (as below). However, the accounts are published before the conclusion of the audit as the Auditor General has not yet issued an audit opinion.

Precept Information – 2023 / 2024
The Caerwys Town Council precept for the financial year 2023 / 2024 is £41,250.00. This amount is precept on residential properties within the community and equates to a figure of £63.39p per household on a Band D property. The Band D household precept for the Caerwys Town Council area, is made up as follows:
£1,521.33 – Flintshire County Council
£333.09 – Police & Crime Commissioner
£63.39 – Caerwys Town Council
Payments (Allowances) to Members of Caerwys Town Council – 2022 / 2023
In accordance with Section 151 of the Local Government Measure 2011, Community and Town Councils must publish within their authority area the remuneration received by their members by 30th September following the end of the year to which the payment relates. The information must also be sent to the Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales by the same date.

Financial Support and Donations
The Town Council welcome applications from the Community for financial support. However, the application must be from a bone fide group, or committee, that at least one or more of the Councillors’ are aware of. There are strict guidelines that the Town Council must adhere to, when considering and granting financial support. Financial support is also granted to organisations and charitable institutions outside the Council area, but these applications must in some way benefit the community.
The Minutes of the Town Council ( see separate web pages ), provide full details of all applications for financial support, that have been granted by the Council. The Minutes also show the various accounts paid by the Council. Further details in respect of applying for financial support from the Town Council, or any other financial information, can be obtained from the Clerk and Financial Officer – as per the contact details below.
