Caerwys playgroup has now been running for over 30 years. The group is run by parents on a voluntary basis and is steered by a busy and creative committee. The group is affiliated to the Wales Pre-School Playgroup Association who provide insurance, training courses and regular visits from our area organiser. Playgroup employs two staff members, Clair and Carolina both qualified and have experience within this field. Caerwys Playgroup runs closely with Caerwys School- Ysgol Yr Esgob.
PLAYGROUP – children from 2 years 6 months to 5 years
Clair and Carolina plan activities and encourage and support our children through them. It is an ideal setting to ensure that children learn to explore messy, creative, imaginative, manipulative and physical play as well as providing children with a chance to socialise and develop new skills and friends. Clair and Carolina look at different themes around the year.
PARENT & TODDLER GROUP – children from 0 to 2 years 6 months
In this group parents stay with their children. Newborn babies to toddlers enjoy the hive of activities. Each child busy discovering a new toy, a new face or even a new type of biscuit. Parents watch over their child and join in the fun, making new friends along the way. The structure of the group is quite loose and varies from free play, sing-songs to painting.
SESSION TIMES AND FEES
WEDNESDAY 9.30AM – 11AM (Parent and Toddler)
£2 per session (0-6MONTHS FREE)
WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY 12.45PM – 2.45PM (Playgroup)
£4.50 per session
Playgroup now offers Nursery Children to be collected from Caerwys School. This session is from 11.30AM -2.45PM (Please bring packed lunch)
£7 per session
FEES
To be paid at beginning of each session (attendance and payment form to be signed) or alternatively you shall be invoiced at the end of each half-term. (This includes refreshments at snack time).
LOCATION
The playgroup is held at the Memorial Institute, Caerwys, which is an ideal location, centrally heated with lots of space, storage, a kitchen and toilets.
COMMITTEE AND CONTACT INFORMATION
The main core of the committee is made up of the Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer.
We are currently looking for a Treasurer. Please let us know if you are interested.
The committee organizes fundraising, advertising, daytrips, staffing, paying bills, buying new equipment and generally ensuring that the group runs smoothly and efficiently. There are regular monthly meetings and committee members are encouraged to attend and assist in decision making and putting forward new ideas. Times and dates of meetings are displayed on our notice board at The Institute or in the Caerwys Chronicle. Should anyone be interested in registering their child or children at the playgroup, or joining the committee – please contact any of the below named, or call in at the Memorial Institute during the times referred to above.
